Hello, it's been a while!

Yes, I'm aware that I quit. No, I am not back for good.

The story: I am basically on temporary unemployment until January 16th, so to fight boredom, I asked Hox for some work to do. While Fran 58 was already done by the new editor, I was assigned Fran 59, Phase 20 chapter 2, and finished up Porno Graffiti chapter 2.

Also, Hox is behind the Great Firewall of China and is currently unable to update his site with these releases. Rest assured that they're legit, but you won't find them on his page for a while.

We apologize for the delay.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce I have made the decision to step away from Fran. In reality, I probably should have done it quite a while ago, but I suppose I am getting stubborn in my old age of 25.

When Hox and I first started this project, I was a vital component. I was the only one doing scans, and without those, Hox couldn't translate. However, my well of usefulness dried up when he belted out all of the available tankouban material like a machine and we had to find someone to scan magazine raws for us.

That man was Vexed, to whom we are eternally grateful. Vexed probably could have done all the editing himself, and he could have done it much better, but as I said, I had become a bit stubborn. I'd developed an emotional attachment to the project and wanted to keep doing it.

When I really sit down and look at it, that emotional attachment of mine is what hindered our progress at times. While I still love Fran as a series, I have fallen out of love with it as a project. I'm willing to turn it over to a different (and probably far more capable) set of hands.

Fran will continue under Hox's watchful EYES OF THE GODS, but I do not know who will be editing from hereon. If you head over to Hox's lovely place, I'm sure he'll keep you informed in the future.

Almost a year and a half, and 38 releases. A year and a half and 38 releases further than we were when we started. I'm okay with that.

Well, here we are. That time of the month and with a double release! Now, we found a guy in Japan uploading his own scans to Share, so Hox snagged them and we're using his raws for now. Since 52 and 53 were tankouban scans, we decided to go with those even though Vexed had already scanned chapter 52 from his magazine. It saved time on cleaning in the long run.

We don't know how reliable this moon-man will be, so Vexed could very well return for raw-providing duties in the near future. I personally know what a pain in the butt it is to scan page after page after page, so head over to Vexed Scans and thank him for all of his help. Without Vexed, our effort on scanlating Franken Fran would have been hindered greatly.

Also, thanks to Hox (for translating as always, dur) for giving me his personal mediafire links for these chapters. I was having internet trouble tonight.

Katsuhisa Kigitsu's Survival of the Dead

As I mentioned last week, Kigitsu, author of Franken Fran, had done another oneshot aside from Phase 20 called "Survival of the Dead."

It's a bit short and was done to promote the Japanese theatrical release of George A. Romero's film of the same name. Because of that, the ending's a bit anti-climactic, but if you've actually seen the film, you'll know exactly what happens! I didn't, and I don't!

Anyway, time now for some more Fran. Releasing at a much later time of night than usual because, well, I was doing absolutely nothing aside from watching a Ninja Warrior marathon. I can only watch Nagano fail so many times-- Get your head in the game, man!

I do believe this chapter is where we finally get caught up with the most recent magazine release. 50 is a pretty good number to take a look back and realize that we've actually surpassed the amount of chapters originally scanlated by Snoopycool, if my count is right. How time flies!

I think we're also going to be releasing another oneshot by Fran's author, "Survival of the Dead," sometime soon. I mean, we made poor Vexed scan it for us, after all. He tells me that it was done to promote the Japanese release of the film of the same name.

Lucky Star Comic a la Carte

Well, I've decided that I've gotta drop this series. I thought it would be fun, and I gave it "the old college try" (I have never actually been to college,) but it's just not for me. Unlike working on Fran, or my short stint working on Kurosawa, where I have/had a lot of fun and say/said "FUCK YEAH!" through each chapter, I find myself asking "Please, is it over yet?" while working on this. The small bit of joy I was able to squeeze out of it was limited to editing panels for the credit pages.

I made the mistake of taking on a series that ultimately wouldn't hold my interest. Not only that, but I took it on at a point in my life when I just don't seem to have as much free time as I used to.

Another month, another Fran. Slightly later than usual because everyone had their own holiday stuff to take care of right around the magazine's street date, but not too shabby.

This chapter was an experiment in basically automating the cleaning process by including some filters and other effects into a set of actions. I'm mostly happy with it, save for page 18 where it really muddied up the grays. If anyone has any tips on how to prevent that without changing the look of the other pages too much, I'd be happy to hear from you.

Switching to this process is mostly to save time. I'm working for a new company now, and no longer have the amount of free time I used to.

Vexed got his package stuck in customs for a while, and then I had to wait the better part of a week before I got started working on it. Hox, of course, did nothing wrong, seeing as how he is a deity.

Ami Koshimizu (Horo) and Chihari Minori (Yuki Nagato) are Fran and Veronica. The files range between 160-170kbps. I realize this is not the highest bitrate, but it's more than listenable given that it is not music.

The CD is close to an hour of the chapters Chrysalis, My Little Sister, and Lust fully acted out with sound effects, in case you're not familiar with what a drama CD is. Simply look up the chapters of the same name if you need a refresher on what's going on.

Man, Fran is a lot more unnerving with all the screaming, sawing, splashing and sucking.

A quick note about the 2-page spread-- I didn't notice this was actually a spread until after I'd finished typesetting and uploading the chapter. I quickly attempted to join the two pages together, but since I had cropped and leveled them separately, they weren't going to fit together 100%.

I am also not a master when it comes to graphic arts, so this is the best it'll get without re-scanning the pages in. I really don't think it's so bad. Let me know how you feel about it, yeah?

Why have I been so quiet lately? Because I've been busy getting to work on THIS project! That's right, Franken Fran will now be back in business!

I have teamed up with good ol' Hox, who is translating, to scan and edit Franken Fran from here on, starting with the volume 3 extra chapter. It's a very good series, which I feel didn't deserve a whole year of being neglected. If you never bothered to pick up Fran, perhaps now is a good time to start?

In this short little extra, we learn a bit of back story on an old friend and resident of the Madaraki estate.

Lost Boy is lost

I'm completely furious about it, but at the same time, I can't help but laugh at how appropriate it is..

"Lost Boy," the ED single for Thriller Restaurant, which I planned to rip, has been...Get ready, it's pretty hilarious-- LOST.

It was supposed to arrive on my doorstep on the 18th, but it still shows being stuck in a sorting facility on FedEx's tracking. I still will do it, if it ever arrives, but I can't really promise anything right now.

Also, on top of that, my computer imploded on itself yesterday morning, and its future is looking a little grim. I am making this post from a family member's computer.

Taking these two things into consideration, I may not have the equipment or the money needed to do any releases for quite some time. Please make a note of it.

Colossal nutbladder failure

{EDIT} Some kind souls have pointed out that in the lighter-colored images, you can make out a small hair or string that got caught on the scanner bed. It's not very noticeable, but anyone with moderate skill in photoshop (not me, basically) could fix it easily. My apologies!!{/EDIT}

The Shadow of The Colossus doujin "Kyozou Musume" got here sooner than expected, and I got it scanned sooner than expected as well! If you downloaded that previous megaupload file on the net full of the fuzzy photos of the pages, delete that and get right on this. These are high-quality scans.

Kyozou Musume is a Shadow of The Colossus fanbook done by Shigatake, the artist of the ever hilarious Habanero-tan comics. The focus of the book is the moefication of the monsters present in the game-- and the results are USUALLY sexy or cute.

About the filesize...Um, well, colossal filesize for colossal girls? The artwork is absolutely beautiful in this book, and I was getting some nastiness in the scans at 400dpi, so I did it in 600dpi! Print them on poster paper, hang them on your walls! Make pillow cases with them-- you can do neat things with resolutions so high.

Okay, I'll level with you. I was just too exhausted to go back and scale all of them down half a size; but when it comes to graphic arts, I'd say it's better to have more than you need than too little. I'm sure someone could find good use for them.

Goodness, I'm back! Not only am I back, but I'm back with a present! A present I promised a certain image board I would scan over a month ago, but never got around to it!

GPZ06 was what became known as the "semi-official" Strike Witches doujin peddled off at 2008's Winter Comiket by the series director Kazuhiro Takamura. This particular work has no erotic content, stories, or even 4-koma; No, this book is merely 35 pages or so of production materials for the anime.

There are a couple original images of Lynette (in B&W) and then a clean B&W version of the cover image. There is also a single page containing a wall of text, and a picture of a can of SPEM with Shirley on it. However, everything is clean lineart for the DVD covers, and a bunch of pencil work for scenes in the series.

It is worth noting that much of the scenes focused on in this book are the bathing and swimming bits. I assume this is because Takamura felt that they had extreme artistic value, and were a high point in his career. I can figure no other possible explanation.

There's also a page that is full of nothing but the girls' derrieres, and the caption "Whose is it hip?" challenging you to identify the girls using nothing but their badonkadonk. Can you do it?

It is also worth noting that while the scans start at page 03, there isn't actually any page 01 or page 02 in the book. There was a piece of blank orange paper inserted before it, so maybe that was considered to be the first two? Who knows. In any case, nothing is missing.

Finally, THE DAWN! And only 4 days late, too! You can't get much more fashionably late than that. (The scans I did also can't get much more fashionably HORRIBLE. Seriously, they are bad this time.)

THE DAWN contains the awesome ED for Hellsing Ultimate 6, Suilen's "Magnolia."

Though, to call this a "single" would be an understatement. It's more like a mini-album, given that it has 5 tracks on it. If you're not necessarily a Hellsing fan, but enjoy Suilen, this might not be a bad grab for you!

Ahh, it was nice to put together a relatively small release for once. I imagine Seamo's "Lost Boy" will be as easy when it comes in about 8 days.

If you weren't fond of the Railgun or NEEDLESS soundtracks perhaps there's something of interest to you in this one. Some really neat, and sometimes strange, stuff here. I like it!

And since I'm sure you're wondering, Mayumi-chan's theme is track 5, "It's LOVE" and FUKUICHI DESU's them is track 10, "Hampuku yokotobi". But hey! Don't stop there! Cruise down to track 11 for some more sweet jams by Denki Groove with "Mononoke Dance" if you liked the OP and ED songs.

I'm sad to announce, however, that this soundtrack does not include the piano version of "Modern Strange Cowboy". Please also note that the tracks "Fatal Wound" and "Magma Kid" are by a band called "Gargoyle". I erroneously added the series music composer in the tags for these files, so please correct them if you're anal about that sort of thing. I have an awful upload speed, so I don't think I'll be fixing the info on those files any time soon.
